About me

I work with companies and people in moments when things are changing. Sometimes the key is simply to understand the situation properly, and sometimes it is to roll up our sleeves and work through it together.

That is only one part of what I do. Most often I work with CEOs and management teams on resetting how a company works when old ways no longer serve the business well or simply stop working. We deal with everything from vision and strategy through structure and processes to culture and cooperation between teams. I studied law, I may have started my career in business, but I have spent my whole working life in HR. Like any proper lawyer, I tend to carry two perspectives into the room: one for the company and one for the people. Alongside change management and transformation, I most enjoy working as a fractional HR leader, setting up or resetting processes, and building stronger HR functions. Sometimes I also help find people. Most often IT people and HR colleagues, though only when I am not busy looking for my glasses or the access card I have already misplaced more times than I care to admit.

I first got a taste of HR in an Irish bar. It was 2008, and I had left my alma mater in Brno to visit a friend living in the picturesque town of Celbridge. I originally planned to stay for fourteen days.

In the end, I liked the local climate so much that I stayed for a year and a half, spending my time in discussions with Dublin whisky lovers and resolving conflicts between local drinkers. In more professional terms, that was where I picked up my first skills in mediation and coaching.

Life is not always gentle, though. Once blood started splashing across the bar into my cocktails, because some conflicts in Ireland are settled with a broken bottle and a stabbing, it was clearly time to move my career in a different direction.

This time I returned to Prague and started where people are almost always hiring: sales. I already had some experience in business, and it was the hard kind. During my studies I sold life insurance. Yes, that was my sales school. Anyone who has done it will probably agree that very few professions are less popular.

After a brief return to sales, I moved into HR. Thankfully, my path was far from straight, and I got close to many disciplines along the way. I worked in mass recruitment, agency employment, setting up HR departments and leading international teams. Step by step, I moved into transformation, change management and the education of younger people. I have met many companies, and many companies have met me. You can see some of them in the references section.

Alongside change management and transformation, I work on people development. Whether through individual sessions, work with teams or the design of long-term development programmes.

I also devote part of my energy to education outside companies. I run training sessions and workshops in primary and secondary schools, focusing on practical skills for today's world, from working with information to thinking about the future of work.

From time to time, I also bring my experience and somewhat unusual perspective on people and companies into writing. I work on professional literature as well as fiction.
